Hello 👋, my name is Aaron and I build and maintain the Webchat Autopilot website and plugin.
I discovered HMRC webchat early in 2020 and found it valuable for answering my self-assessment questions. Unfortunately my experience of getting an advisor on the other end of the conversation was frustrating in 3 ways:
- I found myself never quite sure if I was in for a 5 minute or a 3 hour wait.
- Because I needed to click the "speak to an advisor now" link I couldn't get on with other things while I waited.
- There was no guarantee that if I clicked the link I'd make it into a queue to speak to an advisor; sometimes I was just told to "try again"...
I built Webchat Autopilot to solve those webchat frustrations. I hope you find it as useful as I do!
